Ingredients for the Dough:

  • 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 and 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Ingredients for the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well.

In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the milk until warm (about 110°F/43°C).

Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the warm milk and whisk together.

Pour the milk mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the filling.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a large circle, about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) thick.

Brush the melted butter over the surface of the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.

Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough into 12-16 triangles.

Roll each triangle up, starting from the wide end, and place them on the prepared baking sheet in a crescent shape.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy your homemade Crescent Donuts while they're still warm!
