Spaghetti Pie 


This delicious and easy-to-make spaghetti pie is sure to be a hit with your entire family. Made with spaghetti, ricotta and a hearty meat sauce. You have got to try this! 😊


Spaghetti Pie Recipe :


Ingredients 


Spaghetti Crust:

  • 200g/7oz Spaghetti 
  • 1 Tbls (15g) Butter, melted 
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tbls Parmesan Cheese 


Ricotta Layer:

  • 400g/14oz Ricotta
  • 2 Tbls Fresh Basil, chopped 


Meat Sauce:

  • 250g/8.8oz Ground Beef
  • 250g/8.8oz Ground Pork 
  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped 
  • 700g/24.7oz Jar Tomato Juice (Passata)
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, minced 
  • 1 Tbls Tomato Paste 
  • 1 Tsp Dried Oregano 
  • 2 Tbls Fresh Basil, chopped 
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp Piri Piri Seasoning (mixed chilli easoning) 
  • Salt & Pepper 


Topping: 

  • 1 Cup (100g) Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 
  • 2 Tbls Parmesan Cheese 
  • Freshly Ground Pepper 
  • Fresh Basil for garnish 


Spaghetti Pie Method:


Meat Sauce 


Fry the onions in a little olive oil until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for just 1 more minute until fragrant. Add the ground beef and pork and cook until no longer pink. 


Add the tomato paste and tomato juice, stir through then add the dried oregano, chopped basil, piri seasoning, sugar and season with salt and pepper. 


Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and leave to cool slightly. 


Ricotta Layer 


In a small bowl mix the ricotta and chopped basil together. 


Spaghetti pie Crust and Assemble 


In a medium bowl mix the eggs, melted butter and parmesan cheese together. 

Cook pasta according to package instructions, drain and toss into the egg mixture. 


Butter grease a 20cm/8-inch springform cake tin. Place spaghetti into the tin and press to form a crust on the base and 3/4 up the side. 


Spread ricotta over the base of the spaghetti pie. Top with meat sauce, shredded mozzarella, parmesan cheese and freshly ground pepper. 


Place the tin on a baking tray with baking paper just in case there is any leakage from the tin and bake in oven 200C/400F for 30-45 minutes until cheese is melted and golden on top. Remove from oven and leave to rest for 10 minutes before removing from tin. 


Serve Spaghetti Pie on its own or with a crispy salad and warm garlic bread. Enjoy!
