Ingredients:
Cream Puffs Recipe for 24-30 Large Puffs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream Puffs Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium saucepan, bring water, unsalted butter, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat.
Add all-purpose flour to the saucepan and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
Add large eggs and egg yolk one at a time, stirring vigorously with the wooden spoon after each addition until the egg is fully incorporated into the dough. The dough should become smooth and glossy.
Using a piping bag fitted with a large round tip, pipe the dough into 2-inch rounds on the prepared baking sheets, leaving at least 2 inches of space between each round.
Bake the puffs for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C) and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed.
Remove the puffs from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheets.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
Using a piping bag fitted with a small round tip, pipe the cream into the cooled puffs.
Serve immediately, or store the cream puffs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
